Glorious Privilege #3 Parent – Adult – Child
Over the last 12 years, I have had the glorious privilege of coaching and training 1000’s of leaders. During this time I have recognised patterns of behaviour that are indicative of truly great leadership and over the next year or so I thought I would share these for you to consider and apply if you wish to.

Parent – Adult – Child
Who will you turn up as today ?
One of the great skill sets of the best leaders we work with is the ability to to be personally aware of how they come into a conversation
The brilliant book Games people play by Eric Byrne is a fabulous guide into this concept.
In short if you come into a conversation as a Parent the person you are talking to are likely to deliver a child like response – ESPECIALLY if you are their leader.
If you act child like you are more likely to provoke a parental response.
As you can imagine the outcomes of such interactions are not the most productive and can lead to ongoing issues.
So the ideal relationship is that of Adult Adult
Consider someone you work with and position them – if they display child like or parental behaviour south you try and hold yourself to an Adult response and watch as their communication to you starts to alter towards Adult
But don’t forget it is all about you
So who will you turn up as today ?
