The Importance of Virtual Connection
The Seventh-Wave® community is made up of self-employed trainers, so connecting with others is vital to ensure you are not spending too much time solely in your own company. Despite the rules against meeting with others in person, we have made it our goal to continue networking and maintaining our relationships.
We are, if we may say so ourselves, excelling at connectivity, establishing constant connection within our community. Our large WhatsApp group, containing every member of the Seventh-Wave® community, is constantly firing with updates and inspiration from all corners of the country. We have created smaller cohorts out of our Accreditation Training groups, each with their own group chat, to allow for more personal discussion and support to take place. Our trainers are holding their own masterclasses via Zoom for fellow Seventh-Wave® trainers to gain new skills in areas they may not be experts in, and other Zoom conference calls are frequent, so that our trainers can practice with the technology, share their progress, and challenge each other within the group.
We are extremely proud of our community, which consists of what Patrick Lencioni calls ‘Ideal Team Players’. What does this mean?
Well, if you want a more thorough explanation, we would recommend reading Lencioni’s book, The Ideal Team Player, but I’ll try and sum it up here… Lencioni’s ideal team player is the perfect centre between the qualities of ‘smart’, ‘humble’, and ‘hungry’. For maintaining connection, people who fit this profile are perfect both to create connection with you, and for you to connect with. They are smart, meaning they will have the ability to take initiative and connect when they need to, and will also have great advice for you should you connect with them. They are humble, meaning they are excellent at taking advice from others, and allowing fellow team members or friends to help them in turn. Finally, they are hungry, meaning they will not take this time to sit back, rather they will relentlessly market themselves and their business, create momentum, and better themselves: who better to connect with than someone who can help you do the same?
It is easy to maintain these connections, and more importantly, it is vital for your personal wellbeing and professional momentum to stay connected. Luckily for us, technology allows us to do so at the click of a button. It takes two minutes to send a quick message to a friend or colleague asking how they are, and it may make a world of difference to them having someone check in. Additionally, look out for the ideal team players in your life, and strive to be one yourself. Such people will prove extremely valuable to you, both personally and professionally, and if you are one yourself, you will be able to offer help to those around you. Make sure you take time to connect, we certainly will.
